American Idol's foul mouth hoochie-shaker Rhonetta Johnson is already a star in Charlotte, North Carolina - at least with the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's office.
Two months before the American Idol auditions rolled into Greensboro, North Carolina in October of 2005, Johnson was arrested in the Charlotte area. She was charged with DWI, driving with a revoked license, open container, and providing fictitious information to an officer which, given her rather dubious claim of being 5' 7" and 165 lbs, might account for the later charge.
Nearly two months after Simon, Paula, Randy, and Ryan left Greensboro, Rhonetta was arrested again. On November 26, 2005 she was charged with DWI and all the rest of the offenses previously listed and for good measure she added larceny, disorderly conduct, communicating threats, and resisting arrest into the mix. She also claimed to be two inches shorter (likely) and 30 lbs lighter (highly unlikely) than she was when arrested in August 2005. It's worth noting that she was also charged with providing fictitious information to an officer in the later arrest as well.
The last mugshot is for a November 2003 probation violation, where it also looks like she's got her own personal Ike Turner dishing out "tough love" musical training.
Since two DWI convictions are likely to leave Rhonetta with an impounded car and no chance at having a drivers license any time soon (which hasn't stopped her recently), she'll have to do a lot more street walking in the future. Based on her bombastic performance Tuesday's edition of American Idol one suspects that she will excel in that field...

I lived a few doors down from Rhonetta, she left her 4 year old autistic son alone nights when she went to work with no food in the house. Twice the cops were called out because he was found wandering near the pond on the golf course with no clothes on. The second time, the cops went into the home after not being able to find her for three hours and found one seriously filthy mattress (I know, I saw it when they cleaned the place out) a fridge full of rotten food, and a burned out stove that caught fire a few weeks earlier when she was passed out. Social Services took the child away in August of 05, and it took the cops three days to find her. After that all she could say to those of us who live nearby was "Who's been bad mouthing me to DSS?" I too, would think this is all funny if it weren't for the fact that there's a 4 year old with developmental disabilities out there whose mother abandoned him. Not that he's not better off without her, he was always dirty and wouuld run around in the parking lot in the middle of the night. I swear if she gets one more moment of fame or money from this, I will personally go on a crusade against the media producers behind it.

Oh my goodness............ that's all I can say. It was funny but also very sad. Obviously this chick needs some kind of mental help. She also needs serious etiquette lessons. She portrayed the stereotype that some have about blacks - thtat we're loud, brash, crass, rude and ghetto with no manners or home training. I can't even get on how she dressed. Some dude somewhere told her that how she dressed was cute and that she looked good. Whoever that dude is should be locked up in the room next to her at the mental hospital......... Please believe that all blacks are not like that. The majority of us aren't. She was just dead wrong for even stepping foot in that room. American Idol was wrong for focusing so much on her. Fox thrives on airing crap like this. I think that it's poor judgement to even let her audition. There must be a better screening process. They should also open the competition up to all ages. It's discrimination. Rhobetta needs to be put in jail. I am glad that her son now has a safe haven.

I believe that all court records are public record. Could be wrong. Facts are facts, if she didnt want her stuff spread out into the world, she shouldnt have put her face on the tv to begin with. Once you sign the papers and step infront of the cameras, you are a public figure, and will be scrutinized beyond all imagination. Secrets will come out, and stories told, both good and bad. The diagnosis is narcissism. Her drug use has led to a break from reality. In "her world", she really is beautiful and talented. If the individual who wrote about her child is speaking the truth, I pray that he is safe with a caring loving foster family. She may be able to get enough help some day to be a part of his life, but right now she doesn't even see the need for it. 4 all itz worth, ya'll gotta step back and realise that a game iz bein' played by both 19/fremantle and ms johnson. tha 19/fremantle peepz are out 2 entertain at all costz, and after four seazonz of showin' us all kindza wannabe talent in tha pre-hollywood phaze, they'll show ANYONE doin' ANYTHING if it meanz tha ratingz stay up. enter a "character" (and i use that word becauze a good deal of what she doez could all b an act) like ms johnson, who willingly signz a release of some sort so she can't turn around and pursue legal recourse 4 whatever they do in their quest 2 "entertain" u. now all she wantz iz 2 b a star; i imagine she wantz 2 b a great singer, but that won't happen soon, if at all. but tha bottom line iz that, with this and many other message boardz, forumz and unofficial websitez, she iz now among tha hottest topix of discussion. not solely in north cack (and i can say that 'cauze i waz born there), but tha WORLD (or at least tha partz of it that even give half a damn about 'idol'). her past can b questioned. her singing ability izn't steller. her choice of apparel garnerz tha reaction she wantz. and yeah - her attitude can't b ignored. but after all of this, she pretty much got what she wanted - tha girl iz a star. call her anything in tha book that she seemingly exemplifiez - hell, call her a sellout 4 misreprezentin' black folx - but she standz 2 b a BIGGER "star" than william hung ever dreamed. in your hatred, she iz revered. in your complimentz, albeit sparse, she iz revered.
ms johnson, 4 az long az your star shinez, run with it. just don't trip over your own foresight.

I just wanted to say I grew up with Ms. Ronetta, she has all ways been this way. Her mom died when she was young so she has never had a real mother figure in her life. I hateto see her like this. Her sister cut me in the face years ago , because she was jealous of me and my family. She always thought she was a star. She knows who I am if she can go back to the days on "park drive" and "Reid street" . Projects.All I can say is please get help girl you were always special in your own way just tone it downnn!!!
