Are New Line Cinema execs trying to secretly rename the August 2006 Samuel L. Jackson thriller "Snakes On A Plane?"
Jackson liked the title so much he didn't even bother to read the script. He summed it up thusly, "It's like, come on. You either want to see this movie or you don't. 'Snakes on a Plane.' There's no mystery to that."
But there is a mystery about the title. IMDB lists the film as S.O.A.P.. What's up with that?
While the official website still shows the full title, New Line has strongly considered dropping the 'Snakes On A Plane' title before, so it's entirely possible that some marketing hack decided the film needed to go by a catchy abbreviation and drop the name that has sent the net a buzz.
All we can say is, 'dude it's snakes and a plane, why mess with perfection'?

Update: It warns my heart to see serious IMDB bashing on their S.O.A.P. forum, though having to register to do so is a bit of a pain. If you do register you can also submit a title correction. Just to be clear, mutherfarkin' probably isn't going to be in the tittle now matter how many times it's submitted...
In the comments section Snakes On A Blog say this is an IMBD issue and the studio isn't changing the name. I have a request in to New Line for an official statement on the matter ans will report back their response.
