Star Jones Reynolds: 'I Was Fired'

Note to Star Jones. That's not like being fired... that's just being fired.

http://pop.wizbangblog.com/images/2006/06/StarJones_400-thumb.jpg

"What you don't know is that my contract was not renewed for the tenth season," she tells PEOPLE. "I feel like I was fired." She adds that she was told her contract wouldn't be renewed just days before news leaked that O'Donnell would be joining The View.

She was much better looking as a fat woman. Her face looks long and drawn out now, its like a spooky halloween mask. At least when her face was puffed up like a dodgeball, it hid the deep freakish lines of her mug. Shes looking really mannish these days.

Maybe now Al will finaly bone her, well maybe he will let her use the ol strap-on on him.

Barbara W lied about you not leaving the show, and now I will not watch anymore of her shows, because she is a liar............!

Now about your weight - IT IS NONE OF OUR BUSINESS HOW YOU LOSE THE WEIGHT. ROSIE HAD NO RULE MAKING ANY COMMENTS ABOUT IT IN PUBLIC.

Envy!...plain and simple. Can a black woman loose weight, find the man of her dreams, marry him, and maintain a fulfilling day job? Apparently not. Apparently America was just looking for another big, black (overweight, asexual, downtrodden) mammy to appear on television allowing them to rest assured that disgusting stereotypes are still firmly in place. These are the rules of the game and since Star wasn't willing to follow them she now has to sit out.

I don't care how Star lost her weight, or why she's leaving the show. Personally I don't know why anyone watches the show. Whoa Women!
I've read so incerdible nasty remarks. Regardless of what you think of Star, she has been an asset with her legal knowledge and beliefs in others rights.
She is a Christian - I'm sure most of you writing these posts are as well. But as one of the hundreds of thousand females that has been screwed by the corporate good old boy networks, it was incredibly low to hire someone that has insulted Star past the realm of even bad taste. The black women here state they are 'of color'. You know, we are ALL of a color, we are WOMEN who've had to fight for our rights for decades. Elisabeth is sweet but nieve and seems uneducated in many fields, but she's young and she is passionate - as were so many of us at that age. WHY did they have to replace Meredith with anyone. I happen to think Joy is a great lady. She's a COMEDIAN and you may not always agree with her but she isn't racist - REMEMBER she TAUGHT SCHOOL - in the Bronx for God's sake - cut her some slack.
I think Star has been just another statistic in the corporate world where we get it without vasoline constantly.
And some of the comments, while we are all entitled to them and the gov't hasn't taken that away....yet.
We MUST start being kind to each other regardless of race, religion, beliefs, etc. We are at WAR and fighting amongs ourselves, constantly pulling the race card (example: city comm here son (30) and a lawyer gets pulled over because a headlights out and what does he do? He call mommy who's on the board, she calls the police chief and says she doesn't want 'some white boy' tasing herson.
And there it is again. 2nd time in 2 years he's done this.
FOR THE LOVE OF THE PLANET - Can we stop this constant hatred growing in the US and focus on our kids dying in the war, our rights being violated and the fact that no one protests like during Vietnm - which tells the world we are totally happy with our gov't......LADIES THIS IS WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT FROM MEN - We MUST not attack people like this - I'm so tired of people only getting on the net to complain or put people down. How about using this energy to sign petitions on the net that affects our country, our health, our enviornment and our image. Divided we will fall.
I think Star is a great attorney full of knowledge no other show had...so what if she had an over the top Cinderall wedding...I didn't but Star and AL have their money and they, as any American can do what they like.
LADIES LET'S TRY TO Be KINDER TO EACH OTHER..or are you waiting for our gov't to bring the sunshine back into our lives as we live under darkening days here.
Just my opinion, most will probably disagree some will not. No insult intened to any woman who speaks what she feels. SO I've just added my own thought.
Peace and God Bless

TJ:

When I was unemployed, I enjoyed watching the View. I appreciated listening to conversation and debate from differing perspectives.

The format of The View was genius. Each host/commentator was a different age (approximately six-to-ten years apart), a different American ethnicity, and had a different work background. Their opinions varied accordingly -- which created interesting and thought provoking dialogue and an hour of wonderful entertainment.

It was great to watch "people" disagree without resorting to low and callous insults or violence. It was also great to hear different perspectives regarding the same topics everyone was talking about. Barbara and Meredith essentially reported events, kind of vanilla like we hear in the news, then moderated the panel. Joy and Elizabeth presented the common opinions about the topics being discussed, while Star made everyone stop and think and look at things from another side -- the side of moral reasoning.

Well, praise God I'm employed again! I haven't seen The View in almost three years. From what I've been reading about the show, it seems I haven't missed much. It appears the format is being discarded. Barbara Walters is no longer the queen of decorum - resorting to backbiting and vengence in the press. What difference does it make that Star announced her departure two days early?

And adding Rosie O'Donnell???!! Wasn't her show cancelled? I mean, who was listening to her? Who WANTS to listen to her?

With both Meredith and Star gone, there will no more class, insight or wisdom. I can't imagine the show lasting beyond it's next season -- which could be why Ms. Walters has resorted to low blows in the press. She could be attempting to create a buzz, stir up a little interest, boost the show's rating.

Regardless, it doesn't matter to me. I'll no longer be watching.

Best wishes to you, Star! God Bless.

Carmen123:

Ladyhawk,

In my estimation, it is entirely unreasonable for you to deem that all of the women on this forum are "women of color". I find this remark trite and feel that any white woman who is honest with herself will admit that in this country and beyond whiteness provides systematic advantages. Please refer to "Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack" and other readings of this ilk, they will provide you necessary food for thought.

Racial "minorities" (actually we are the world majority) have been systematically oppressed by the greed, ignorance and drive to delineate a racial hierarchy propagated by the white race since this country's inception. When one refers to themselves as a "woman of color" they are often striving to distinguish themselves from this insidiously dominate majority.

Please do not make this offensive statement again and then provide an example of a person erroneously using the "race card". Your time would be better spent examining your country's legacy of institutionalized racism. You need only to do this to understand why one may become hostile and hypervengilate about being discriminated against.

As for Star Jones, I believe she is a hard working and feisty woman with a bright career ahead of her. :)

Respectfully yours,

Carmen

Walters has a lot of nerve talking about Star not showing dignity. How dignified was she when she offered Rosie the job knowing she and Star don't get along. Walters is a pain in the behind. Have you noticed how she is always dropping names, then when the ladies start asking questions, she doesn't want to talk about it. It was obvious that Starr was about to get the boot. If in any way did I for a moment think all women on these posting on this site were of color. I sometimes have trouble translating my thoughts to an illness. I truly ask your forgiviness if this is how I came across. I guess I wish we could all heal - I'm a minority as well as a women, as a disabled person. Yes they have been systematically oppressed. Since I became disabled & became a disaster volunteer, I have seen the poorest in our country. Most of my clients were women of every color with the same issue of poverty. Most women single moms. I'm truly angry at our country for many things - especially the lack of any kind of help for victims and clean up in New Orleans, Mississippi, and all areas still in ruins with missing family members - losing everything they've owned and worked for. WHO stands up for the poor? For the children? The children who age out of the foster system? You are obviously educated and passionate. I hope you understand I had no intent to insult any of these women. Perhaps my passion keys my words to fast or my brain does not see my words can be misconstrude at times. Please accept my apologies to you and all the women here. We are all sisters - we must stand together and show the men how to do it. Being offensive is not my nature Carmen, it is helping the poor, we have 20 'adopted' kids of all cultures and one of I gave birth too. Hopefully can become a mentor to kids that age out of the foster system and provide them a family they can share holidays with, hang out with and mostly know there are people who care.
I'm sometimes hesitatant to post because of my neurological cross wire - and I was in communications 25 yeas...hard to tell now I guess.

an afterthought:
As a woman and American I am fully aware of the rich white men from Europe that founded this country. We were not slaves but we were women and regarded basically as maid, mother, cook. I suppose the minority of rich women had servants but women have always had to fight to be equal - never men. The founding artistocratic men took this land away from the native Americans, promised them each 40 acres of land and when Chief Seattle agreed, they were then taken to Forts, like the one in St Augustine and held. Our govt's lied to then and still they lie. So I couldn't agree with you more, as I share your view points on the founding fathers. I was lucky enough to still have insurance when disabled so I could go to the multiple drs to find out what I had - but most women (and it's a woman's illness 95%) do not have the means, the health coverage and must settle with doctors saying it's in your head'. I'm an advocate for my illness, for women, for children and the poor. And the blessing I get are more reward than gold - I just don't understand how all these things are ignored - especially Katrina's victims - it's like the country has forgotten them, but I know certain things must happen in order for the things that are predicated in Matthew to come to pass. Thanks again for giving me pause to re-think my words.
peace and God Bless

I'm shocked at Barbara Walters being an executive producer allowing this to happen. Some friend .....you knew Star wasn't going to be offerd a renewal...you let O'Donnell get Meredith's spot. Why did anyone need to replace Meredith? Was Star originally your EEO balance and now your new EEO balance is O'Donnell? Elisabeth and her should be most entertaining since Elisabeth has been clear about children and other issues relating to O'Donnell's lifestyle....Eliabeth is still a child - she backs her replublicans no matter what...slams the otherside every chance she get...yes should be good fun.... DD:

It's amazing how many people notice that Elizabeth is right wing - yes, she is the lone voice on the show for half of us. The other four have been from moderate to left wing democrats. She isn't the only one talking politics, in fact it's usually Joy who brings up something negative about politics within minutes of the start of the show. I usually only watched the first ten minutes of the show each morning just to see how long it would take her to become negative and full of anger, then watch Elizabeth try to defend the other point of view. Next Meredith and Star agree with Joy, but try to bring it to a more civil tone and discussion. Maybe many of you have a problem with Star (and it seems Elizabeth too) because you can't stand seeing someone thin, successful, and happily married and confident. The producers seem to know what the audience wants and are "moving in a new direction". The choice of Rosie O'Donnell tells me the idea is to take the show to a more agumentative negative tone. I won't be watching anymore because there won't be Star there to bring things back to neutral ground. I don't care to watch two far-left, negative, full of hate, hoping for something to bitch about, loud women argue about something even when they agree. At least none of you will have to hear Elizabeth say something you disagree with - the producers have found a sure fire way to keep her silent. The show will probably be fine, but it will be a much less diverse audience. There are too many people who won't want to start their morning off with so much negative energy. Good Luck keeping a smile on your face Elizabeth. Good Luck on your future plans Star. You're contribitution to The View was appreciated by many.

Barbara W. leaked that info when she stated "Star has known for months we would not be renewing her contract." I'm not even a Star Jones' fan but I'll defend her on this issue. Bill R Wynne:

I am one of those persons that, perhaps, saw the very first View Show. I began to like it because of the diversity of the hosts. The original lineup was stellar and great. Like any coach of a champion level team, when some of the stars move on to other teams, or the Ol' Pro retires, the coach is tasked with making replacements that will either move the team forward or at worst case, hold the ground. An eye must be constantly cast about to see new emerging talent. Often that talent will not realize it true potential for many years. This author would like to cite Michael Jordan in this form of viewing the future. He was not an Champion maker at first, but they built the team around him, accentuating his strong points and reinforcing and mitigating his weaknesses. History shows that with Phil Jackson and others, a winning team can be built from the ashes and a dynasty created.

With that said, Star is just like the rest of us, maybe a little more glamorous, maybe a little richer, but NONE of us has a guaranteed job. Well, maybe the guys and girls of the military have an enlistment contract for a stated amount of years, and maybe some of the big time athletes' have a form of No Cut Contract, but, but basically, we are all at risk at our jobs. Having been stationed in Korea for the last five years; there is only one channel for all US Forces to watch, many shows don't get on the air. Hence, I have not seen all the rucky muck, as I deployed on 11 September 2001.

I don't know a lot of particulars, but bottom line she was told a few months ago; and remember how much time most corporations give a person before they are "fired", "laid off", "on sabbatical", "don't work here anymore". It appears that she was given a chance to "leave with dignity", get a chance to go out with a touch of class, but I guess the Prosecutor in her drove her to do it her way.

As a supervisor, put yourself into a conversation with the CEO and you are telling them that you have basically have everything under control and it's moving along great, and your assistant enters the conversation and says that all that you are saying is not correct and that they feel so strongly about the going's on that they are going to immediately resign. Now as you wipe the egg from you face, tell me your real feelings about that person at that moment, or even the next day. They have put you in a bad position and could have jeopardized your standing in the corporation. NO; Barbara is not in a position to lose her job, we all know that, she co-owns and produces the show! But Star should have went along with the program, told us what she's gonna do, who she gonna do, and DO the similar stuff that Katie and Charles did. I don't know what Meredith did, but maybe a similar fate should have come to Star.

Racist? I don't think so. Oh, yes, when you step into the public eye, everyone loses something about their lives that they might want to keep a secret or hidden from view. I believe that many of us have come to respect the opinions and VIEWS from the assembled host's. We like to believe that what we are watching is a least the truth. There is no rule that says that a personality has to tell all, but the show that made her famous and richer has a tendency to touch on spicy subjects on occasion, and while I have read many threads about being Black; a description of a person that also includes me, I would rather Star tell the world the real truth about her weight lose. With bulimia and the rush to git skinny around us all the time, Kalista Flockheart, the Olson twins, Michelle Richie, and a ton more of young "too fat" women out there, I would like to believe that Star could be honest so as not to lead other WOMEN astray as to the methods of weight loss she used.

As a Christian also, I do not feel any real sorrow for Star getting released, that's life. She has lots of smarts; book deals are pretty good things nowadays, she has money, can't seem to find out how much, but I bet she makes more than an Old Soldier. I believe that she will land on her feet and be OK, but honey, when they tell you "whateva"; that means that you don't go there anymore, or git any mo' money from them, basically. Are there any more questions?

I am suffering from my Juv... (Below threshold)
Bill R Wynne:

I am suffering from my Juvenile Alzheimer Disease again. While I do not advocate superfluous weight gain or lose, Star has looked better in her career. Mostly from a male perspective, I agree that her face has become elongated, and she prefers to show that rather large forehead of hers prominently displayed to the world. Hence, in my mind, there was a period where her face looked better, more rounded, better filled out. Funny thing, most of the time Star and the other host sit down. Therefore, I don't even have any idea of what her body looks like. Obviously, she was "thick", but I don't know if she had good legs, what her ghetto onion looked like; big, wide, flat, hip pockets, if she had a corpulent bosom or what. I read that she has been augmented, so I guess she felt they were not compatible with the rest of her. As far as I see it, cutting a hole in your body, for no apparent medical reason, re cosmetic surgery, TO ME, seems to fall in a category similar to buying a Do-Yourself Home Circumcision Kit and a case of beer and letting your buddies help you out.

She actually looked pretty good in there. I even like her BIG face, but I not enamored with the new draw look, but then one man's steak is New York Strip, might just be ground chuck to another. That variance in a persons taste's; as to what makes them grin, is what makes the world go around. I don't really understand why it appears that everyone has this desire to grin ink into their flesh; tattoo, but we all have our individual tastes, and I think that she did look a bit better with a little more adipose flesh on her frame.

Listen up black folks...Do you know what year it is?? Do you all know who Oprah is?? C'mon just admit it Star was a nasty biatch! Diva wannabe!!!
So sorry but far from it. Fat, skinny, black or white, it doesn't matter! We are all talking about her character, it sucked! When you are in the public eye and getting paid the big bucks because of your viewers and fans...you don't tell them that is none of thier business how she lost the weight. Hellooo, their are alot of people who struggle with thier weight and who looked up to her for what she did... Star didn't give a shit! Selfish!!!

Mimi:

Looks like Star is going to be on the Today Show tomorrow pleading her case to Al Roker....what a joke, can't wait to see her make an even bigger ass of herself! She's going to black-ball herself from any type of job on television, she should lay low for a year if she wants to be back on tv. She is soooooo STUPID!!!

The research ABC did and does for every program showed that between her weight loss and bridezilla over-the-top, "give it all to me free and I'll mention you on the show" wedding, the viewers didn't trust or like her anymore! That's why she's gone, not because Bab's wanted her gone....when the research shows that no one likes you they have to get rid of you before you ruin the show!

I almost never watch TV and I almost never watch The View but I love this blog on Star Jones Reynolds getting fired - viciousness all around - that's what I live for.

I never liked her until she got fired for not being fat and replaced by Rosie ODonell - seems surreal but keep the hate flowing.

WD:

I just recently changed jobs, but before I did I watched The View pretty much every morning. My take on Star Jones was that she was mean spirited at times and a little over the top. I think she's a good person that just got caught up in HollyWood. There were times when I enjoyed everyone's views and there were times where she stood out and push certain issues. After her marriage and weight loss she really became unbearable. Her life style, not to mention her wardrobe changed dramatically. Before all of this I could tolerate watching her, but after the marriage and weight loss she became full of herself. Everything was Star, Star, Star! No one elses opinions mattered. She was turning the View into the Star Jone's show. Good writtens!

When did this become a race... (Below threshold)
Maryann Helter:

When did this become a race issue?

Barbara made it very clear what took place on Wednesday.

Star made a brilliant move to keep her name in the media, but a bad judgment call with insulting a former employer and well known/well respected journalist.

She is under contract and they have every right to let her go if they are not happy with her performance or the public's perception of her.

In her lawyder voice, she complained that Rosie didn't just attack her, she slandered her and then in the same breathe, slandered Barbara by calling her a hypocrite.

Honestly, Star is out of her element. She cannot compete with Barbara's class. They gave her a chance to bow out gracefully and she landed straight on her face... right after Barbara led the audience to a standing ovation. Which is hilarious that the news media have said she received a standing ovation. If you watch the video of Star's dramatic departure speech, you will see Barbara, very clearly, motioning the audience. Then Star goes to Ryan Seacrest to carefully read her scripted version of her truth.

The public has continually grown tired of Star's self indulgence and it shows all over the internet. It's nothing new, it just took ABC a little while to respond to it due to the contract.

You gotta remember, Star is a former lawyer... as if we could forget. She knows how to put a spin on things and play the victim. She plays the role perfectly, unfortunately Barbara already called her on it and set the record straight. This is why Star is now running all over the place to talk to any media outlet who will listen and who doesn't like good gossip... whether it's true or not.

I personally watched The View on Wednesday to see what took place and have to admit, I enjoyed it for the first time in a long time. Star had a tendency to interrupt people, who would then have to talk over her so their opinion could be heard. Barbara, classy as always, refused to do that. She waited until everyone was silent to speak. I had forgotten how great The View could be. You see, I also stopped watching around Star's wedding. How much can someone possibly talk about themselves. She never ceased to amaze me, until I finally had enough.

Her dh proposed to her and then told her she would get the ring later in the week. She knew it was going to happen, but also knew she loved attention and therefore, when they were at the game he made sure the monitor was on her for the "event". If it was for real... why propose a week earlier, why not wait until the game. It's all publicity stunts... they are both great at them.

Good luck in the future Star, hopefully you can find a better fitting job for your personality. Maybe go back to being a lawyer... then you are limited to the court channels. :D

The Uncreated:

Amarosa, I mean Star Jones can blame nobody for her misfortunes but herself. Her fame has her blind and uppity. Perhaps she'll thrive in obscurity going forward. I wouldn't wave goodbye to her sooner than I'd sink a slap into her.

gwen storm:

Well it's about rating They traded one freak for another and as for as people being full of themselves I guess we have to listen to Rosie talk about the wonderful normal family life that she and her other posses. So hey it works for Ellen why not the View. After Star's weight issues and Joy's corny jokes and Barb melting face what left? Oh yes Rosie and Tom Selleck. So Star left your head up high and hold on to your purse, because Al is coming to get you girl .

Best wishes to Star Jones! ... (Below threshold)
AMHiggs:

Best wishes to Star Jones! She was not the only ego-maniac onthe show. The crypt keeper Baa Baa Waa Waa and racist Joy needed a pink slip too. I never liked Elizabeth but at least right winger was the only one human enough to give her a call. I think the execs mad a mistake in their focus groups they did not ask black people. They acted with their racist vision and could not stand a black woman be as obnoxious and arrogant, as most white people and showed her the black door. But this is a lesson to all black professionals stop being so cozy with white people.

Whatever Star's reason for ... (Below threshold)
TJ again:

Whatever Star's reason for losing weight, be it health or vanity, it was her own. She clearly did not want her weight loss to become her identity. For example, the Olsen twin.

Whatever method she chose to lose weight was her own as well. If she had a "medical intervention for health reasons," she definitely did not want to become the poster child for whatever it is that ails her. For instance, Michael J. Fox has become synonymous with Parkinson's Disease. Actually, his career has been so long and so stellar, I've heard it called "The Michael J. Fox Disease." Yet, Star isn't a big star; she would become better known for her condition than for her career or personality.

Reiterating: To not state in the media that she's had bariatric surgery was her choice and she chose not to promote the procedure. Everyone should not run out to have the procedure performed. Invasive surgery should be the last resort. It was more responsible for her to promote healthy choices as she did: Diet and exercise. Just imagine the number of fat lazy women having gastric bypass surgery to lose weight -- because "that's what Star did"! Then not changing the habits that put them in their obese state.

It was not selfish of Star to not want to discuss with the world this one aspect of her life. Just because she's an on-air personality, does not mean she must divulge all her personal business.

But unfortunately, small minded people need things, any thing like a physical feature (as in skin color or obesity), the work a person performs, a mistake, a flaw, or a failure to label another. They need to believe everyone else is as simpleminded as they are.

How can anyone hate another because of his or her success, physical beauty, or for choosing to discuss the positive things in their lives they're grateful for?

I liked Star, although I never watched the show much. It surprises me to see that so many people have said that she was very rude. Can anyone tell me when or how she was rude cause I honestly never saw that. I do agree that her talking about her wedding was kind of unprofessional because it happened soooooo often.

I agree it is best for her to lay low for awhile because when you go up against a tv personality like Barbara Walters, even if you are in the right many will think that you were the bad guy in the situation.

BYE Star!:

Good Riddance Star Loser-Jones....
You are a RACIST, a BIGOT, and a narrow-minded, intolerant RELIGIOUS FANATIC.
I'm am soooooo glad to see you go!

I will never forget your UNprofessionalism, your UNgraceful presence, your intolerant eye rolling and Elvis-like-sneer you shot at people who are/were different from you.
I will never forget the shows where you'd pout and refuse to sit on the couch when people you "didn't approve of" [like Pagans, Wiccans or anyone of an alternate world view or lifestyle] were being interviewed...
How you would insist on sitting away from them, as if they were "dirty" or smelled bad or something, or worse yet - refuse to come out of your dressing room until their interview segment was over. You are a religious bigot.

IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU BEING A 'LEGAL COMMENTATOR' FOR THE O.J. TRIAL OH-SO-MANY-YEARS-AGO, YOU NEVER EVEN WOULD HAVE HAD A CHANCE AT BEING IN HE 'ENTERTAINMENT FIELD!'
You were FAT, UGLY, PLAIN and barely intelligible.
And even now, with your Prada shoes and designer clothes, TONS of make-up and shameless self-hype and promotion you are STILL ugly.
Because your kind of ugly comes from the inside.

BYE Star! I predict within 30 days people all over the world will be saying; "Star WHO??"

What is with all this nasy talk from women - do you even remember the fighting for our rights or our these people too young here? to ignorant? What?
We are at WAR with other countries - how do we get along with the world when sisters (all shapes sizes and colors) all sisters can't get along with each other. I checked in here because I caught the view & Star said she was leaving. It's not life changing for anyone but Star - least not for me. What a shameful representation of womankind. &Barbara seems a kind soul & good friend. However, YOU ALL need to make your thoughts known where it matters online - tell the gov't what you think, do you use the petitions to congress or the house? Open your voices for America - the kids - Hurricane victims - this has been interesting the few times I've checked but I'm shocked at you women...all of you who have been mean & nasty for no other reason than someone doesn't share your opinins...how petty & I guess that's what's taught to the kids--to be mean & nasty? & folks wonder why the young people are an angry generation...

...other things to do. And if anyone thinks that's a trite & an unfair staement, read the feed b4 you and we are all entitled to our opinions. This is America. Enjoy your days.

Melodu:

Starr, I have never given my view on anything so public or personal; however, I do feel very strongly about this. I watched the day you gave us your news, and you did so with such eloquence and grace. I saw nothing that you did out of line, in fact I was very saddened by the fact that you were leaving. I just recently started staying home and keeping my grandchildren while their parents work and you were the adult conversation that I would get during the course of the day. I'm not a complete dummy, I have worked in restaurants, nursing homes, weight loss clinics, hospital(ER & ICU) and rescue units(that's how I met the love of my life 30 years ago). God has something very special in mind for you and I will be waiting to see what happens next. The best of everything to you and to anyone that reads this and doesn't agree with me, God bless you also. You can't be bad, if you are from our fantastic "neck of the woods!!!"
