I know Baldwin has been scary-crazy for many years now, but this is getting to the point where people are going to be concerned with his family's safety. The guy needs serious help.

No, I feel bad for Alec Baldwin. My dad wouldn't have hesitated to talk to me worse than that if I were disrespectful to him. Can't you hear the hurt and frustration in his voice? Kim Bassinger is a malicious, crazy beotch. I'm sure he is just desperate to have a normal relationship with his only child, which is constantly subverted by his ex, and his emotions took over. Besides, if this kind of thing is something that makes everyone feel so bad, what kind of nation of wusses are we? Didn't any of you get your asses beat as kids? That's not bad, and that's way more than this.

I can't stand Baldwin but agree with Kristeen, Bassinger is a fruitcake and both of them have put their self interest ahead of this child.

Kristeen, I don't think objecting to this kind of talk makes people 'wusses' - it makes them sane human beings, because this is clearly way out of line. If your father really talked to you like this, then I feel sorry for you.

Also, I'm against beating kids, because I think any sort of violence in the home is damaging and there are other ways of disciplining kids, but I wont get into that here. What I will say is that psychological stuff like this can be just as harmful as physical beatings, if not more so, especially at such an impressionable age.

Kristeen, if you think it's being a wuss to find that voicemail offensive and damaging to a child, you need as much therapy as Baldwin.

Sorry. The frustration was all about him. Nothing about how he just wanted to talk to her, but all about how he looked bad because he had to find a phone - he was put out, him..him..him..

I agree that he shouldn't talk that way to his child but I also agree that children can push a parent to the point of flying off the handle. Especially when you have limited contact with the child b/c they live far away with their mother.

If you had been trying to reach your child for that one time you get to speak to her and she always ignores you and you KNOW it's b/c she is influenced by your crazy ex wife you would get out of hand too.

Kids get away with too much b/c everyone is afraid to go a little nuts on them. My father would have flown out there and nailed my bedroom door shut.

Look. I go a "little nuts" with my kids but several of his statements are just off the chart.

After hearing that I would *never* want to speak the person who spoke to me like that ever again. If my parents spoke to me like that I'd never speak to them again.

But I'm an adult. I get to make that choice.

I am horrified that this little girl had to be talked to like this. Baldwin said he "was caught on a bad day". I am scared that if anyone would ever agree that what he did was ok because he put himself out, shouldn't have kids themselves. Not one time did he think maybe something could be wrong. If he has talked to her like this before as his reputation carries an abusive past with Kim, then he has probably carried that right over to his daughter. Abusers have to put down females and he can't do it to Kim any longer. He is a controlling pig for what he said to that little girl. My oldest is 30 years old and my baby is 26 years old and my middle child is 28 and I have never insulted who they are nor called them horrible put down names even when they just about drove me crazy and Alec only has one child and can't maintain control/ Nope, he should not get custody and if a parent is to ashamed to have how they treat their child aired in public then they shouldn't act like idiots.

I get mad at my kids. I yell at my kids. It's not the yelling or the anger, it's something fundamentally different. He could have yelled and it would have been bad, but it wasn't the yelling. It was the psychological battering, not the volume.

So, I have a question. How does one make an ass of oneself getting to a phone? Is it not perfectly acceptable in polite company, even while doing business, to simply state that one has a scheduled phone call to your child and step outside and use your cell phone?

I think that regardless of what issues he had with his wife, its never acceptable to speak to a child like this. But assuming that it was his crazy wife stopping him from talking to Ireland, is also probably incorrect. Just because you disagree with the mother, and the child also dislikes you, does not mean the child was "poisoned against you". Abusive people in relationships with children always assume that their exes have "programed"the kids, never stopping to think that the children resents their presence just due to their abusive behavior.

Personally, I dont think he said anything wrong.That girl does need to be diciplined, and he was just using his power as a father. and please dont tell me that your parents never, not once spoke to you in a threatening manner.Kids are th way they are now because of lack of discipline!That girl and her mom deserve to get slapped!

Why is it the majority of people think they are so perfect! This is a personal and family issue first of all. Alec left the message with the intention to keep the fear in his child that he is daddy and she is the daughter. He obviously has issues with his ex-wife and it concerns their daughter. They need to let their fustrations out and speak about what the problem is for them as a family. We dont know the realness behind the curtains of alec baldwin or his daughter. Im sure he loves his daughter to death and im sure she never goes hungry or lacks anything she needs or wants. I think it's just incredibly funny that someone who must realize that some parents *don't* love their children and even those that do can be so twisted that they hurt and abuse them, even kill them, would try to suggest that Baldwin really does love his daughter and the abuse doesn't matter because she has nice "stuff" and they just need to talk to each other and work out their problems as a family...

First of all she should be in big trouble herself for taking that voicemail to the media. They had a court order for nothing like that to happen and she broke it. Second his ex wife is a NUTT. Children learn from their parents behavior, and there is NO justification under any circumstances for a parent to say these things to a child, period.
